Shawn & Ed Brewery in Dundas is calling their annual Cheers for Charity Food Drive an “unprecedented success” after more than a metric tonne of food was collected from customers.
The Salvation Army Dundas Food Bank came by to pick up food from the annual drive Monday, with the collected donations valued at “thousands upon thousands” of dollars. “The real value of this donation,” the brewery said in a Facebook post, “is a reminder of the power of community – when friends get together, amazing things can happen.”
For every donation dropped off at the downtown Dundas brewery’s taproom in November contributors were entered to win a state-of-the-art Kegerator – “the perfect prize for a beer lover.”
Last year Salvation Army Hamilton & Dundas Community & Family Services provided food assistance for approximately 2,000 families each month.
