Downtown Hamilton arterial road blocked for police investigation

A span of major roadway in Hamilton that connects Highway 403 to downtown was closed late on Monday afternoon (Sept. 12) for a police investigation.
An automated post from Hamilton Police says that York Blvd. is closed in both directions, betweeen Highway 403 and Dundurn Street. Dundurn is the first north-south street that a driver encounters after exiting from the 403, and the last left turn before the on-ramp to the eastbound 403.

Hamilton Police were busy Monday afternoon, since they also had to issue an alert relative to an active shooter in a nearby community.
There was a massive manhunt in the GTA after a man in Mississauga shot three people, one of whom is dead and believed to be a Toronto police officer. They fled before being arrested in Halton Region shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
UPDATE: Suspect has been located and is in police custody. 1 person has been pronounced deceased at the scene and 2 others have been transported to hospital.

Police in Hamilton informed the public were “monitoring the situation,” and shared the licence plate of the driver’s car, along with its make, model and colour.
