Starting today (Sept 3), residents are welcome to visit the Devil’s Punchbowl Conservation Area in Hamilton once again after a car drove off the looking platform two weeks ago and prompted a closure.
The Hamilton Conservation Authority announced that the area will re-open to the public with just the lookout platform remaining closed.
The parking fee at the conservation area has been reduced to $5 a day to compensate for the continued viewing platform closure.
The car accident that caused the closure was first reported by the Hamilton Fire Department on Aug 19 at approximately 5:30 p.m. .
Reports say a car went over the edge at the viewing platform and fell several hundred feet into the ravine below.
There was only one person inside the vehicle, an adult male who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
