Dane Evans will get another crack at beating the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in a Grey Cup.

The third-year quarterback out of Tulsa was named the Tiger-Cats’ starter ahead of the 108th Grey Cup at Tim Hortons Field by Hamilton coach Orlondo Steinauer.

Evans came off the bench to replace struggling starter Jeremiah Masoli and led the Ticats from behind to beat the Toronto Argonauts 27-19 in the East Final. Evans went 16-for-16 passing for 249 yards and one touchdown.

The 28-year-old thrower played in place of the then-injured Masoli in the 2019 Grey Cup against Winnipeg. Evans struggled en route to Hamilton’s 33-12 loss.

In his press conference Tuesday, Steinauer said Evans is more mature and more hungry as a result of the 2019 loss.

Kickoff on Sunday is scheduled for 6 p.m. from a sold-out Tim Hortons Field.
