Cyclist dies in collision with truck in Hamilton

Police have released more information on a collision that claimed the life of a cyclist in Hamilton.
The male cyclist was travelling eastbound on York Boulevard approaching James Street North when he was struck by a commercial motor vehicle around 4 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 28), Hamilton Police said in a press release.
The truck was turning right onto James Street from York. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sadly, the cyclist had no identification on him and investigators are working with the Coroner’s office to try to identify the man, police said.
The driver of the commercial motor vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
An early post from Hamilton Police said the collision involved a cement truck and a pedestrian.
This is Hamilton’s eleventh traffic fatality of 2023 and the first involving a cyclist.
The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit was called in and has taken charge of the investigation.
York and James were closed for several hours for the investigation.
