COVID-19 presence continues to decline in Hamilton

COVID-19 transmission in Hamilton is low and decreasing, with an average of nine new cases per day last week, down from 16 the previous week.

Hospitalizations, ICU admissions (zero), test positivity, wastewater signals and the number of active outbreaks remain stable or decreasing, with a just handful of hospitalizations all week and the number of outbreaks at long term care facilities, hospitals and retirement homes down to eight from 14 the previous reporting period.

The weekly incidence rate (per 100,000 people) is down to 10, from 19 and 20 the previous weeks.

Influenza transmission is considerate “moderate and stable” by Hamilton Public Health, with the seven-day average of new cases down to 7.3 (from 9.1) and the test positivity stable at 11.4 per cent.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus signs are also stable or decreasing in Hamilton, with the per cent positivity rate down to one per cent (from 1.6 per cent) and outbreaks steady at three.
