Cops release photo of Hamilton woman charged in attempted child abduction

Hamilton Police are asking the public to be aware of a woman who allegedly tried to abduct a 4-year-old in Hamilton on Oct.1.

According to authorities, the incident occurred at 6:53 p.m., at Jackson St. W. and MacNab St. S.

Police say a woman approached the child while he was with his mother and hugged him.

After hugging him she then proceeded to walk away with the boy in her arms, until the mother confronted her.

The suspect then placed him back on the ground and left the scene.

Police say that the suspect was not known to the victim and the child did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

The woman was arrested after a while and has now been identified as 37-year-old Simithy Mansaray from Hamilton.

Mansaray has now been charged with abduction of a person under the age of 14.

Given the nature of the incident, Hamilton Police are releasing the suspect’s photo as a matter of public safety.

The suspect resides in the Rymal Rd. area.
