A 28-year-old Hamilton student was taken to hospital in critical but stable condition after her bicycle collided with a vehicle on Wednesday (Oct. 16) in Flamborough.

Hamilton Police received a call at 1:40 p.m. of a collision involving a Volvo vehicle and a cyclist at the intersection of Concession 2 Road West and Inksetter Road.

The Sudbury woman, a post-secondary student, was riding north on Inksetter Road when police say she failed to stop for the stop sign at Concession 2 West and was struck by a Volvo being driven by a 22-year-old male from Dundas.

The cyclist was transported to a nearby hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.

“The driver of the Volvo remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators,” said Hamilton Police.

“Speed and Driver Impairment have been ruled out,” added police.

Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate and is actively seeking any potential witnesses. They are requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras and any residences or businesses in the area with cameras to review their footage.
