Cab driver takes victim to shooting in Hamilton; suspect flees after shots fired

Police are on the hunt for a suspect and victim after gunshots rang out early this morning in Hamilton.

Hamilton Police responded to reports of multiple shots being fired near Gage Avenue South and King Street East at approximately 2 a.m.

Upon arrival, police say they located evidence that confirmed a shooting had taken place; however, both the victim and suspect(s) involved had fled the area.

At this time, police have not indicated whether anyone sustained injuries.

The Shooting Response Team has taken over investigations, and officers are canvassing the area, seeking information and potential witnesses.

In addition, investigators have determined that a Hamilton cab was involved in this incident and transported the alleged victim to and from the scene.

Police say this taxi has been located and are appealing for the involved victim to come forward and speak to authorities.

Individuals with video from the area are asked to check their cameras for any evidence of suspicious activity and/or fleeing vehicles from 1:45 a.m. to 2:15 a.m.
