Bomb threat at Hamilton school prompts evacuation

Students and staff at a Hamilton school have been evacuated in response to a bomb threat.

Hamilton police announced they were at Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School. They posted the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, just before 11:30 a.m. today.

They are asking the public to avoid the area.

Inthehammer.com requested more details from police, including whether the threat was related to the controversial trans teacher Kayla Lemieux, who recently transferred to the Hamilton school from Oakville. Lemieux had made headlines worldwide because of her unusually large prosthetic breasts.

“At this time, what we can say a bomb threat was made to the school and police are on scene,” Hamilton police said in an email, not mentioning the teacher or more details about the threat. “Students and staff have evacuated.”

In an email to families, the school’s principal Tom Fisher said the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board learned of “a potential bomb threat” at Nora Frances Henderson Secondary School shortly after school opened today (Sept. 21).

“Hamilton Police Service was immediately contacted and is at the school,” Fisher wrote.

He told parents that students and staff were evacuated to Ray Lewis Elementary School and students were to be dismissed at 1 p.m. due to the investigation.

“We will send families another communication later today with update before tomorrow’s school day,” Fisher wrote. “We appreciate your patience and understanding.”
