Average home in Hamilton listed for record $1M in January: report

Overall sales were down but the Realtors Association of Hamilton-Burlington (RAHB) reported a new average sale price record for January.
The average price for residential properties in the RAHB market area was $1,058,756, which was an increase of 13.6 per cent from December, and an increase of 34.7 per cent compared to Jan. 2021.
Hamilton came in at $976,423, Burlington was $1,369,337, Niagara North was $1,045,801, and Haldimand County was $873,280.
The average sale price of single-family detached properties remained over the $1 million mark across the RAHB market area with Hamilton coming in at
$1,089,916 — climbing nearly 18 per cent month over month.
Burlington rose to $1,765,884, up 13.2 per cent month over month.
RAHB reported 718 sales of residential properties located within the market area through the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) system in January. Sales were down by 11 percent month over month and decreased by 13.5 percent compared to the year prior.
New listings were up by 40.9 per cent month over month, but compared to Jan. 2021, there was a decrease of 11 per cent.
The average sale price of townhomes across the RAHB market area was $891,988, up 10 per cent month over month, and an increase of 34.1 per cent compared to Jan. 2021.
The average sale price of apartment-style properties in the RAHB market area was $686,169, an increase of 11.3 per cent month over month, and an increase of 44.1 per cent compared to the year prior.
