A suspect is in custody weeks after an armed robbery in a Hamilton cannabis store.

Two men arrived at the HighLife Cannabis at 1142 Wilson Street West in Ancaster shortly before 9 p.m. on Nov. 4. The shop sits in the Ancaster Crossing plaza on the far western edge of the city.

One of the men pulled a gun on the store’s only working employee and demanded cash and merchandise. The pair then fled.

Hamilton Police launched an investigation soon after and partnered with Niagara Police. They eventually made a break in the case, leading to an arrest on Dec. 12.

  • pointing a firearm

  • uttering threats of death or bodily harm and
  • possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

“Hamilton Police Service continues to collaborate with neighbouring police agencies and are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the outstanding suspect in this investigation,” said investigators.

They described this suspect as a Black man between 25 and 30 years old. He stands five-foot-ten and has an average build.
