There was more than one kind of face-off at the Scotiabank Arena last weekend after a Hamilton man was charged with assault for allegedly attacking security during a Toronto Maple Leafs game.

The Leafs played against the Colorado Avalanche on Jan. 13, ultimately losing 5-3. As the game neared its end shortly before 10 p.m, police were called to the arena to investigate and assault.

They allege security went to perform a wellness check for William Anderson, 37 of Ancaster. However, police say Anderson became combative and attacked three guards. They further allege police officers also tried to restrain Anderson but he assaulted one of them as well.

As as result, Anderson is charged with three counts of assault and one count of assaulting a peace officer. He will appear in a Toronto court on Mar. 12.
