Flags across Hamilton will be at half-mast this week as the city’s lone representation on ABC’s The Bachelorette is no more.
“The stadium location… cancelled LRT… COVID… Sewergate… and now this,” said one emotional resident who was definitely not the author of this article. “We were so close to Hometowns!”
Blake Moynes was abruptly sent home during Monday’s episode (Dec. 14) by Bachelorette, Tayshia Adams.
The two were on a one-on-one date that involved “heart chakras” and an old lady with braids who called herself a “reiki crystal master.”
During the “tantric breathing exercise” that involved silently gazing into each other’s eyes, Tayshia said, “I don’t think [Blake is] my guy” and “I feel like I need to tell him that.” So she sent the 30-year-old “wildlife manager” packing while breaking down into tears.
“I didn’t see that coming at all,” said a shocked Blake.
There is a lesson to be learned here: nothing good can come from anyone who calls themselves a “reiki crystal master.”

“Every journey comes to an end they say, right?” wrote Blake in an Instagram post on Tuesday. “Even though I wasn’t ready for mine to end, I’m so thankful for the opportunity @bacheloretteabc gave me. And, of course to the beautiful @tayshia for giving me a chance and making me feel so comfortable and completely myself throughout the entire process.”
Blake, a true gentleman, added: “Tayshia has herself some absolute beauties left in the final 4 and I’m excited to watch the rest of this crazy journey unfold! To the rest of the boys, make sure you let me know if you ever come up to Canada eh?”

Season 16 has seen COVID-19 affect shooting and it had the bizarre departure of the originally-casted Bachelorette, Clare Crawley—who, despite being a long-time member of Bachelor Nation and the oldest Bachelorette ever, apparently doesn’t actually know how the show works because she got engaged to a contestant within the first few weeks of filming. But in all the chaos of this season, the only thing that will be remembered by Bachelor Nation is that the pride of Hamilton, Ontario was done dirty by a crystal master.
