$7K in cash, drugs and gun seized by police in Hamilton; man charged

A man is facing multiple charges following a drug trafficking investigation in Hamilton that led police to seize drugs, a loaded handgun and thousands of dollars in cash.

Hamilton Police say officers arrested a suspect without incident near Main Street East and Wellington Street South on Thursday.

Search warrants were carried out at two homes. One near Gage Avenue North and Barton Street East, and another near Main Street East and Spring Street. The locations are approximately an eight-minute car ride apart.

Investigators say the searches turned up about 680 grams of fentanyl, 24 grams of cocaine, 19 grams of crystal methamphetamine, hundreds of hydromorphone pills, a loaded 9mm handgun, and more than $7,000 in Canadian money.

Jesse Schnarr, 33, of Hamilton, has been charged with several offences, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited loaded firearm and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.
