Four men broke into a Hamilton home with weapons and attempted to steal a vehicle in Hamilton.

The home invasion was reported in the Centre Road and Parkside Drive area of Waterdown shortly after 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Hamilton Police said.

Two of the four men forcefully entered the home with weapons and demanded the keys to the two Mercedes sedans parked in the driveway, police said.

Police said the men got the keys to one of the cars and were in the process of stealing the vehicle when a struggle ensued with the homeowners.

The robbers left without the vehicle and fled in a stolen white 2006 Hyundai Sonata, police said.

There were no physical injuries reported.

Officers found the Hyundai abandoned in another region outside of Hamilton.

Police believe the home was targeted.

The men were wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and masks, police said. They are all believed to be in their 20s.

Hamilton Police ask Waterdown residents in the area to review their security surveillance cameras between the hours of 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. for any suspicious activity. Anyone driving in the area with dash camera footage suitable for review should contact the investigators.

Contact Detective Scott Hamilton of the Criminal Investigations Branch at Division 30 at 905-546-8970 if you have information or video footage.
