2 people killed in a devastating crash in Hamilton, man charged

A devastating crash claimed the lives of two people on the weekend in Hamilton.
Emergency crews rushed to the intersection of Highland Road East and Tapleytown Road on the Stoney Creek Mountain at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 25), Hamilton Police said in a press release.
A 2013 Ford Flex, carrying four occupants, was travelling northbound on Tapleytown Road when it collided with a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500. The male driver of the Dodge had no passengers in his truck.
Tragically, two female passengers in the Ford died, police said.
The two male occupants in the Ford sustained severe injuries and were taken to hospital. One remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Following the collision, the male driver of the Dodge Ram was located near the scene and is currently in police custody.
A 36-year-old Hamilton man was charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death; and two counts of fail to remain (at a collision) causing death.
Police haven’t released the names of the people killed in the crash or the man charged.
The Highland Road East and Tapleytown Road area was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate.
