UPDATE: Hamilton Police have provided an update on a highway crash that occurred on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway in Hamilton, which left a 15-year-old dead and sent two others to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have arrested Vincenzino Stumpo, 18, from Hamilton, in connection with the incident.

Police say Stumpo is charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm and dangerous operation causing death.

He appeared in court on Saturday, (Oct. 12) with a bail hearing scheduled for Oct. 15.

A 15-year-old boy is dead and two others remain in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash involving suspected street racing on Hamilton’s Lincoln Alexander Parkway on Friday.

Initial reports from Hamilton Police indicated that the collision happened around 2:30 p.m., involving multiple vehicles in the eastbound lanes near the Upper Gage Avenue overpass.

Police say, witnesses reported seeing two or three vehicles racing when two of them collided, causing a Toyota SUV—whose involvement in the race remains unclear—to lose control. The Toyota then rolled off the road, ejecting one or more occupants.

All three occupants of the Toyota were transported to a trauma centre with serious injuries. The teenage boy—a Hamilton resident— was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to the hospital, while the other two victims remain in critical condition.

Officials have not provided further details on the other victims including their ages, places of residence or relation to the 15-year-old.

Following the crash, police closed sections of the Lincoln Alexander Parkway between Upper Gage Avenue and Dartnall Road and temporarily restricted access to the southbound Red Hill Valley Parkway from the QEW. The roadways have since reopened.

Police are still investigating the fatal crash and are looking to identify additional vehicles or individuals that may have been involved in the incident.

Anyone with dashcam footage or information are urged to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4753 or 905-546-3886.
