A 13-year-old has been arrested following a bomb threat at a Hamilton school, which was among a series of threats that have disrupted classes at a number of schools since Sept. 21.
According to authorities, the teen called in a bomb threat at Mount Albion Elementary School today (Sept 26).
Subsequently, police traced the call from the school to a local address, where a youth allegedly admitted to making the threat.
It remains unclear if the same suspect made all the calls.
Police say 16 such school threats were made across Hamilton and authorities are still investigating these incidents.
“Police take incidents like these extremely seriously and will continue to work closely with school boards to help identify the individuals responsible and lay the appropriate criminal charges where a suspect(s) is identified,” Hamilton police said in a press release.
At this point, the details regarding the circumstances of these threats remain undisclosed, and the police have not shared any information regarding the charges filed.
As the investigation is ongoing, anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-546-4925.
