Threats with ‘replica’ firearm made at two Hamilton schools

Hamilton Police are continuing to investigation after threats with a ‘replica’ firearm were made at two Hamilton schools on Thursday morning (Sept. 12).

Police attended Sherwood Public School at 25 High Street after receiving a report of a threat shortly after 8:30 a.m. The investigation would lead officers to a second location at Westmount Secondary School on 39 Montcalm Drive.

“Officers have determined that the incident involved a threat and the discovery of a replica firearm,” said Hamilton Police. “The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.”

Police are continuing to gather information.

All students remained safe at the school and police maintained a presence at both schools to “ensure their safety.”

“The use of weapons, even replicas, in our community is unacceptable,” said Hamilton Police.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to come forward and report it to investigators, parents, or school staff.
