Here’s a look at the exciting events happening in Hamilton this weekend.


August 2

Noon Hour Concert

Hamilton-based band New Mother Nature, led by Thomas Duxbury, performs at Central Library. Since 2018, they’ve gained attention with their genre-defying blend of blues, garage rock, folk, and country. Known for energetic performances, they’ve opened for artists like The Commoners and The Dirty Nil and played at festivals and clubs across Canada and the UK. Currently, they are working on their second studio album, drawing inspiration from The Guess Who, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Modest Mouse, and The Black Keys.

Festival of Friends

It’s a weekend of music, art, and food, with something for everyone. This three-day concert series at Gage Park kicks off on Friday with live musical performances.

Audience members can enjoy Smit at 1:30 p.m., Big Iron at 2:45 p.m., Monte Carlo Band at 4:00 p.m., Sabian at 5:15 p.m., Chris Chambers Band at 6:30 p.m., David Wilcox at 8:00 p.m., and War at 9:30 p.m. Between sets, visitors can explore arts and crafts vendors or grab a bite from the many food trucks.

August 3

Guided Garden Tours at Dundurn National Historic Site

This half-hour tour offers a unique opportunity to explore Dundurn Castle’s historic Kitchen Garden. The tour provides hands-on experiences with unique plants and insightful stories about the garden’s rich history and the landscape’s development.

Festival of Friends

Day two of this concert series at Gage Park brings more performers. It starts at noon with Joshua Pascua, followed by Pip the Band at 1:30 p.m., Behind the Woodpile at 3:00 p.m., McCurlie, Doidge, and Wiles at 4:30 p.m., and a stage break. The evening resumes at 6:30 p.m. with Ray Materick & Midnight Matinee featuring Daniel Lanois, Crash Test Dummies at 8:00 p.m., and The Village People at 9:30 p.m.

August 4

The Halal Flavours of the World 2024

This event is a vibrant celebration of global cuisine featuring various halal dishes. It will be held at the Islamic School of Hamilton.

The evening resumes at 6:45 p.m. with Honey Luck, Aaron Goodvin at 7:45 p.m., and The Washboard Union at 9:30 p.m.

August 5

Lucky Lion Night Market

The market, held at Bayfront Park from August 2 to 5, features a diverse selection of food vendors offering authentic Asian delicacies, including dim sum, sushi, Korean BBQ, bubble tea, and more.

Visitors can explore stalls with handmade crafts, traditional clothing, and unique goods. The market also offers live entertainment, including traditional dance performances.
