‘Targeted shooting’ in Hamilton puts man in hospital

A 27-year-old man was taken to the hospital in “non-life-threatening condition after being shot early Thursday (Sept. 12) morning in East Hamilton.

Hamilton Police believe the “targeted shooting” took place in the early morning hours and are asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information that may help the investigation.

Police responded to reports of a man suffering from a gunshot wound shortly before 6 a.m. in the area of Rainbow Drive and Secord Drive.

“Upon arrival, officers confirmed that a 27-year-old man had been shot,” said Hamilton Police. “He was transported to hospital for medical treatment and remains in non-life-threatening condition.”

Investigators say they are working on determining the circumstances surrounding the shooting. They believe, at this time, the shooting is to have taken place in the area of Nash Road North and Bancroft Street between the hours of 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.

Anyone with video from the area is asked to check their cameras for any evidence of suspicious activity between 12:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. The Shooting Response Team is urging anyone with information to come forward.
