String of break-and-enters lead to charges for Hamilton man and Burlington teen

Two people face charges in a string of break-and-enter incidents in Hamilton.
On Aug. 20, three businesses in the Waterdown area were targeted with break-and-enter incidents, Hamilton Police said.
During an attempt to arrest one of the suspects on Sept. 9, a man “rammed” a marked police vehicle while fleeing from a traffic stop, police said.
Police said two people were later found on Sept. 11.
Jacob Benford, 25, from Hamilton was charged with break and enter; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; 16 counts of fail to comply with probation; three counts of operation of a vehicle while prohibited; possession of burglary tools; dangerous operation; flight from a peace officer; and failure to stop after an accident.
A 16-year-old male from Burlington was charged with break and enter; two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; two counts of mischief over $5,000 and theft over $5,000.
