Carjacking investigation in Toronto leads to arrest of Hamilton teen

A Hamilton teenager is facing charges in connection with an investigation into an alleged violent carjacking in Toronto in late August.

Toronto Police received a call about a vehicle theft at around 11:23 p.m. in the area of Front Street East and Bayview Avenue.

Police allege a man sat in his vehicle in a parking lot waiting for the male victim. As the victim was walking out of the parking lot, the teenager approached him before rushing over and assaulting him while taking his keys.

The male teenager than drove off with the victim’s vehicle.

Toronto Police’s Holdup Squad, with the help of 51 Division and Hamilton Police, would identify a male involved in the carjacking.

Police obtained a search warranted on an address on Wednesday (Sept. 11) and arrested the male while also seizing a quantity of cash.

Elizjah English, 19, of Hamilton, was arrested and charged with:

  1. Robbery with Violence
  2. two counts of Fail to Comply
  3. two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over 5000

English was scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

One suspect remains outstanding at this time.
